Stand-Up Paddling, or SUP, has grown in popularity in the past year. SUP is a hybrid of surfing and canoe paddling and is done using a large longboard surfboard (usually 11-12 feet long and 31-34 inches wide) and a long paddle. Waikiki Beach Services offers two stand up paddling classes: beginner and advanced. Students will spend one hour in the water catching waves plus 15-20 minutes on land going over safety information, surf etiquette and surfing fundamentals with their surf instructor. Participants must be able to swim and must be 13 yrs of age and older. Lessons include 5-10 minutes of land & safety instruction.
ADVANCED / ONE-ON-ONE PRIVATE SUP LESSONS:
For those who have mastered the beginner¡¦s fundamentals (paddling, turning, etc.) and feel comfortable on a paddleboard. This is a more physically demanding class and will incorporate wave riding on the stand up paddleboard. Or for beginners who want to experience one-on-one lessons.
